I have
worked for the NHS as an Occupational Therapist
Assistant since
1990, until December 2007. I am currently employed as a Mental
Health Support Worker, in a local Hospital. I work full time & on my
two days off a week I can be found at Broadstone Leisure Centre.
Stressed out? Maggie May fix it for you! Maggie Russell is a Liverpool
lass who succumbed to the lure of the South Coast back in the 1970s.
After having worked in Hospital environments, including a spell in Poole,
I set up my aromatherapy practice Aroma Synergy, where today I
provide a full range of massage and relaxation services for you
of all ages.
Eager to dispel the myth that my kinds of therapies are designed only
for 'young trendies', she's emphatic that it's the treatment that's
important, not the age of the patient. 'From six to 86,' she'll tell you,
'I treat them all.'
She will, however, admit to holding a special empathy and
understanding for the elderly, particularly those suffering with dementia,
an experience gained during her hospital career. 'I used to do special
sensory sessions with them and found that therapy to be most effective,'
she explained.
'It was as rewarding for me to achieve tangible results as it was for the patients to benefit from them.'
I am currently updating my CPD (Continuous Professional Development) portfolio. My plans are to continue and maintain this development over
the coming months, and to become a Reiki Master.
I plan to do a course called 'Hot Stone Therapy'. The Stones are called
'Basalt Stones', (rich in iron), which preserves the heat during your
treatment. These are Volcanic Rocks which are carefully cut to size
and shaped.
Than a skilled person will make that stone feel smooth, and
then it will be polished to perfection for 'Stone Massage Therapy'.
These stones are placed on various parts of your body to enhance
the therapeutic value of your massage.
From what I have been able to read so far is 'Hot Stone therapy'
helps to increase the elasticity of collagen fibres in your tendons,
promoting greater flexibility. It offers you a blissful, & most of
all a sensory journey. It gives you a deeper relaxation with dramatic
effects and than some....
My 'Hot Stone books' go on to say that it helps relieve:-
* Painful Joints, Mental or physic fatigue, depression or
mood swings, arthritic symptoms, & insomnia.
These things are just a few for us to get to know about at present.
Thank you for your time, again watch out for up dates of when
I am able to offer you your Taster session at a small price!
I also, plan to up date my knowledge & learn another way of giving
you a better 'Facial Massage'. This should be an Excellent course as
it is being held at the home of my Tutor from years gone by. So I
can not wait until August when the course starts. We have higher
standards of care to aim for. So advanced 'Facial Massage' here
I come.
I believe Holistic healing is concerned with looking to the causes, & the prevention of dis-ease. It is taking responsibility for our own health. Complementary Therapies should complement a healthy diet & lifestyle.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my information today, I am
looking forward to hearing from you. To find out more about
Maggie's therapy sessions, telephone (01202) 776181 or

I have regular Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) checks.
